Chester Township Councilwomen Rasheena Payne, Candice Newsome, Angela Prattis, Councilmen Calvin Bernard and Richard B. Knox, Senator John Kane, County Council President Dr. Monica Taylor, along with community members, were all in attendance for the ribbon cutting at Worrilow Park.
In collaboration, County Council, Chester Township, and the Delco Skatepark Coalition have come together to reclaim a space that had been neglected for some time and revamp it into a shining example of what a park can look like when organizations and government put time, effort, and money into communities for the betterment of the people who live there.
The park is located at 1300 Powell Road in Brookhaven, Pa. You could miss it if you weren’t paying attention. This space opens to provide space for skate- boarding, bike riding, basketball, sitting, and just enjoy- ing the outdoors.
Sorry, I was a little late to capture a photo of one of the precious moments, I witnessed that hot Saturday afternoon…our own Senator Kane is shooting hoops with a small child. Moments such as this and parks such as Worrilow should exist in every child’s memory and future.
Of course, food, fun, water ice, and moon bounces were available for all to enjoy.
