On March 3, 2023, Women’s Business Enterprise Center-East (WBEC-East) held its annual Women’s History Month Luncheon + Meet & Greets Event at Valley Forge Casino in King of Prussia, PA. Over 175 people attended this sold-out event–where we were inspired by four established women business owners who shared their personal journeys into entrepreneurship and embraced this year’s theme: “Women who tell our stories.”
The four speakers included:
Dana Donofree, Owner of AnaOno
Jenny Delacruz, Founder of Cobbs Creek Publishing
Sherri Darden, Owner/Publisher of ScoopUSA Media
Sara Holby, Co-founder of Ajiri Tea Company
Hosted by: Liv Carter, Vice President, Principal Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking at Wells Fargo
Representatives from Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern NJ attended the luncheon and hosted a school supplies drive. The goal was to receive donations that addressed school-related stressors, including the fear of gun violence and the financial burden of purchasing school supplies.
After the presentations, there was a one-hour Meet & Greet portion of the event–where 18 Corporate and Government procurement partners attended speed dating sessions between women-owned businesses and procurement executives. Women-owned businesses rotated procurement partner tables every 15 minutes. They were invited to sit down at the table of their choice and take turns pitching their business. The procurement representative shared their information and swapped business cards.
