The 39th Annual Stellar Awards, often dubbed gospel music’s premier event, once again celebrated the remarkable talent and profound messages within the gospel music community.

The ceremony, held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on July 20, 2024, was co-hosted by TV personality and comedian Loni Love alongside radio/TV personality Rickey Smiley and featured performances from Chandler Moore, Kierra Sheard, Anthony Brown, and group therAPy, Da’ T.R.U.T.H, Israel Houghton, Karen Clark Sheard, Kelontae Gavin, Koryn Hawthorne, Lisa Knowles-Smith, Mali Music, Melvin Crispell III, Rich Tolbert Jr., Tasha Page-Lockhart, Ricky Dillard, and Tamela Mann.
This year’s ceremony recognized (both) established icons and emerging artists who have made significant contributions to the genre. Notable figures such as Erica Campbell and Tye Tribbett, as well as rising stars like Jekalyn Carr, were honored, showcasing the diversity and vitality of gospel music.
Tye Tribbett, fresh from his recent Grammy win, dominated the 2024 Stellar Awards by securing six awards, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Only One Night Tho (Live).” He also received the prestigious James Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Icon Award.
Highlights of the evening included Jekalyn Carr winning four awards, including the Albertina Walker Female Artist of the Year, and Melvin Crispell III securing two awards, including Traditional Male Artist of the Year.
Additionally, Kim Burrell was honored with the Aretha Franklin Icon Award and used the platform to issue an apology to the LGBTQ community for previous remarks.
