More and more, we are witnessing that when there is police misconduct, officers, just like anyone else–have to be punished for wrongdoing. There are no free passes here. In America, we have the right to assemble and protest as long as it is done decently and in order. Sure we should expect Civil Disobedient officers and other Law officers on the scene for protests and rallies, just to help keep the peace and keep things orderly. We should not. However, expect law enforcement officers to spray tear gas or to be prepared to beat protesters down with Billie sticks, who are simply exercising their rights as American citizens to protest peacefully.Â
Congratulations to the citizens of Philadelphia who were protesting in West Philadelphia on N. 52nd Street and those on I-676, who ended up being targeted by some police to be tear-gassed and the like, and who stood up for themselves and sued the City of Philadelphia. I also say, Congratulations to the attorneys who took on the case and ultimately helped the victims win a major lawsuit–which was announced Monday, March 20, 2023.
