Union Local 413 Prostate Cancer Walk/Run

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Local Union 413 held the 5th Prostate Cancer Annual Walk/Run to bring awareness to prostate cancer. The community has looked forward to and supported this initiative for the past four years, and this year was no exception.

It was a breezy day on Chester’s waterfront at Subaru Park, but the bikers, run- ners, and walkers were raring to go at 7 am last Saturday. Fueled by a Zumba Warm-up, beautiful weather, and sheer determination, crowds of people came out in support of Prostate Cancer.
The prostate is a small walnut-size gland that produces seminal fluid that transports and nourishes sperm. Prostate cancer can be cured when detected and treated early. Most cancer cases (more than 90%) are discovered in the early stages, making tumors more likely to respond to treatment. https://pasasdenacy-berknife.com

Healthcare vendors were on site with information and free giveaways, healthcare professionals provided free health screenings, and face painting for the children was a big hit. It appeared more than anything, that people enjoyed being out and about in the perfect spring weather.

A total of 50 walkers, four runners, and six bikers made the trek down to Subaru Park to support the event.
