PHILADELPHIA—The Philadelphia Unemployment Project (PUP) and unemployed workers are staging a rally on November 15th at 11 am at the Suburban Station CareerLink office. Thousands of PA workers remain without their unemployment benefits over two months past the end of federal unemployment assistance.
PUP is calling for the release of the backlog of unemployment cases due to identification verification issues, undue stoppage of payments, and for CareerLink offices to accept the full range of documents that will allow unemployment claimants to verify their identity in person at their locations. “We want to remind the public and our elected officials that thousands still are waiting for desperately needed benefits,” said Ron Blount, organizer for PUP.
