In the next few months, I will hopefully have my final back surgery; still having problems with my legs, and one last procedure should have me back to my mobile self. Due to the fact that I will be out of commission for a while, I thought I would make a trip to Philadelphia to get my spirits up for a special event I wanted to experience because when you see Denise King perform–you have a fully unforgettable experience.
On Sunday, Denise performed at two sold-out shows and mesmerized the audience with her rendition of Nancy Wilson and several other tunes. The vocalist was accompanied by the sweet sounds of Aaron Graves on keyboard; Nimrod Speaks on bass; Louis Taylor, saxophonist; Paul Giess on trumpet; Khary Shaheed on drums; and Shakaar Hakeem percussion, which was refreshingly pleasant. An Awesome show–the night included a phenomenal performance by Carolyn Sims Nesmith and her Freedom Choir Ensemble. I was in awe by how crowd-engaging this show was and entertaining–that brought the audience to their feet.
