PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 19, 2024–There’s Hope, Incorporated hosted its Inaugural Celebrity Mental Health Testimonial Rally at The Winchester Recreation Center (2332 15th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19132).
Hundreds of young people and adults came out to celebrate JAZZY THE CLOWN (Tricia Hobbs), draw attention to the need for mental health awareness, and honor the life of one taken too soon, 19-year-old Maurice Quan (one of her proteges who senselessly died at a July 4th ‘pop-up’ party), acknowledging that we are “One Philly” and we can come together and overcome all odds.
Tricia Hobbs, “Jazzy the Rappin Clown,” pledged with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., while attending Coppin University (a historical Black college and university), has dedicated over 27 years of selfless youth outreach in Philadelphia, carrying them from the East Coast to the West Coast to perform. A credit to her faithfulness, Hobbs is now entertaining and mentoring the 2nd and 3rd generation of babies whose parents attended her events as little children.
During the celebration, Hobbs was presented with a citation from Majority Leader, Councilmember, and fellow Soror Katherine Gilmore Richardson and a proclamation from Mayor Cherelle Parker acknowledging Ms. Hobb’s lifetime of contributions and spotlighting innovative program efforts to reach our youth.
In her brief remarks, Jazzy, a victim of domestic violence who has dedicated decades of her life to commitment to the community, shared her hope for healing young people who are searching for answers. Her goal is to encourage those who resonate with her story to get help with their feelings of grief, anger, loss, and loneliness by seeking counseling from experts who can assist them to become the best version of themselves.
