The Universoul “Spirit of Soul” Tour returns to Philadelphia

Reading Time: 2 minutes

In 2023, UniverSoul offers a refreshing cultural combination of global acts, driven with an urban flair of music, dance, and laughter, all infused with the “Spirit of Soul.” The critically acclaimed and highly anticipated extravaganza is now playing under a new big top in Philadelphia at Fairmont Park starting November 10th at 52nd & Parkside.
Energized with a brand-new tent and new show, the UniverSoul Circus embarks on its 30th-year milestone–offering a refreshing cultural combination of global acts, driven with an urban flair of music, dance, and laughter, all infused with the Spirit of Soul.
UniverSoul’s distinctive significance is characterized by its transcultural presentations like the Highwire spectacular, created by wire-walking artists from Gabon in Central Africa and Colombia, South America. Also, The Caribbean Diaspora Carnival features artists from almost every Caribbean Island, including Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, and Cuba, and our “Russian Swing” flying acrobats from Belarus in Eastern Europe and Guinea, Conakry in West Africa.
The diversity inside each act goes on, but no matter where anyone is from, “Spirit of Soul” is a shared experience, and the audience is a major part of the show. The entertainment comes alive in the seats, stands, and aisles. The audience is lit with Fresh the Clowns as they jam with the crowd. Also, equally exciting, are the beach balls bouncing over everyone’s head and our Soul Karaoke audience spotlight, turning audience members into stars. The Kids Dance always gets the crowd cheering; the people love learning how to Swag Surf with Simon Says, but the most favorite of all is The Whistle Man Sifiso and his hilarious audience antics!
Two years in the making, UniverSoul’s brand new Italian-made Big Top Tent is a triumphant step forward for the circus; with new theatre-style seating, multi-million-dollar lighting, and a dramatic new sound system, the show looks & sounds brilliant.
Our newest artist additions are a one-of-a-kind rare Flying Trapeze Act with 18 people flying in the air between three positions on multiple cues, a sexy strong men duo and ladies’ favorite is Double Vision from the Dominican Republic, a new Ballerina on Shoulders act and also added is a dynamic new Cuban/Caribbean themed roller skating spectacular.
In addition, our dynamic daredevil motorcyclists who whip and flip through the air on souped-up bikes are returning, as well as the dangerous Wheel of Death, and most of all, Soul Circus legendary Ringmaster Sidekick Zeke, with Ringmaster N.O. and Ringmistress Cheyenne. The show ends with a positive kids’ pledge message and an uplifting spiritual message, “We all need each other,” Finale.
