Peace family! The Bible says, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20 New King James Version) On August 17, 2021, we will begin a 90-day challenge to improve physically, mentally, and spiritually. This is a personal journey, but it will be done with a group to encourage unity with all that participate. You are welcome to join us! You are welcome to form your own group! Think about it, if everyone you know was striving to improve on all levels. What would our community look like? What would our family look like? How will God (Allah) respond to our effort?
I am so excited, and I am looking forward to improving! I am looking forward to seeing the improvement of the participants. As of August 12, 2021, there are nine (9) of us, but I am sure by Tuesday there will be more. I brought the idea to the group on Wednesday, following the food giveaway that SGS (Sister’s Growing Strong) Ministries hosted in Chester, PA. I found a group of women working together to make a difference in each other’s lives, but especially in the community. We, God-fearing people want to reproduce ourselves!
The Bible says, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we are imperishable. So, I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ESV)
Please be realistic with the weight loss goal that you choose because you do not want to set yourself up for failure. It is 90 days, so how much weight do you feel that you can lose being safe? One pound, five pounds, ten pounds…etc. whatever number you choose, make sure you are being safe, and you are following any instructions given by your doctor. Please consult your physician if you already have a health condition. The goal is to be healthier but be safe at all times! This is a personal journey, and it should be fun!
The Bible says, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted, beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV) We must trust God (Allah) to guide us into making better decisions. We must trust God (Allah) that as we strive to grow and improve, we will not stop, even when it gets difficult. We will rebuke ourselves when temptation presents itself. That is one of the weapons given to us so that we can endure. We must have a made-up mind that will we complete this 90-day challenge. Call someone in the group when we feel weak! Call someone in the group to give a testimony of a breakthrough! Please remember what they say, “There is strength in numbers!”
The Bible says, “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.” (Psalm 34:17-20) To grow on a spiritual level, you must set a goal! Reading more, praying more, or practicing the word of God (Allah) more are some of the major ways to grow spiritually, but whatever way you choose, still be realistic in the goal you set. One of the keys to success is to be consistent, and there is nothing wrong with taking baby steps.
The Bible says, “From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” (Ephesians 4:16) Happy working out physically, mentally, and spiritually! What will the new you look like? What will the new you sound like? I am so excited about this 90-day challenge! I am ready for many breakthroughs. What about you?
