Dr. Felicia Jones is a pharmacist who works at Temple University Hospital. Temple University Hospital is partnering with Miriam Medical Clinics and Zion Baptist Church to help get more people immunized with the Covid-19 vaccine. The goal is to be out in the community in the north Philadelphia area specifically.
Generally, every other week, on Wednesdays, Miriam Health Clinic has committed to being in the community room at the SCOOP USA Community Education Program (SUMCEP), on the nonprofit side, to make Covid immunizations available to anyone who walks in. No appointment is necessary. Dr. Jones stated, “We’re here, 9:30 a.m. -1:45 p.m. every other Wednesday. The SCOOP headquarters is located at 1352-54 W. Girard Avenue on the second floor, and there is a chair lift for anyone who needs that. The phone number at the SCOOP is 215-309-3139. We wanted to make ourselves accessible in this neighborhood for people who may not have transportation or other means to get to the Broad and Venango area–where we also host immunization clinics with our partners at Zion Baptist Church. There are not a lot of pharmacies or drug stores in this area or North Philadelphia, so that’s why we’re here. Covid is still very much around. We do have other viruses that are taking place in concurrence with the Covid virus, but the Covid virus is still very much deadly. We have a vaccine, and people should know you can still get access to the vaccine. Please get a Covid vaccination because of the fact that you can’t get rid of the RSV virus, which is out right now.” Essentially, Dr. Jones is warning that you could end up with a double-whammy, Covid and RSV.
