Reading Time: < 1 minute

There are plenty of festivities happening around Philadelphia for Black History Month. Everyone is celebrating in their own way. From Art exhibits to comedy shows and entertainment–there is something for everyone.

CSN Productions Presents “The Celebration of the Black Experience” in honor of Black History Month. The performance will bring history to the stage in a unique interactive way. This special event will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Scotts Mills complex, 3510 Scotts Lane, Suite 3015-A, Phila., PA, 19129.

Carolyn Sims-Nesmith, Founder of CSN Productions, said, “When people talk about Black History you think of slavery, MLK, Emmitt Till, Rosa Parks, The Black Wall Street, or famous firsts. We are going to celebrate “The Black Experience” by sharing information illustrated through skits, a slide show, music, and most importantly–audience participation.

Carolyn explained, “We are doing a spin-off on Black vacationers in America and ‘The Green Book,’ the annual guidebook for African American road travelers, during the Jim Crow era. The book listed places (that were safe to go) and where to stop and not to stop on the roads. This was important for African Americans to know the various businesses that were necessary to make traveling comfortable and safe.” She added, “The skits and slide show will reflect on this time in Black History.”
