Hampton Water Rosé’s Co-Founder, Jesse Bongiovi, Launched Their Newest Vintage on the Moshulu.
The deck inside Philadelphia’s Moshulu was filled with an excited crowd, happily sipping on Co-Founder Jesse Bongiovi’s Hampton Water Rosé. The well-balanced and refreshing Rosé was created by Jessie, his father Jon Bon Jovi, and long-time friend Ali Thomas with Vintner Gerard Bertrand.
While the Rosé flowed, guests were treated to passed hors d’oeuvres from Moshulu’s kitchen, such as crispy Egg Rolls, Mini Pork Sliders, and Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice. At the bar, you could choose from a glass of Hampton Water Rosé or have the mixologists pour you a cocktail made with the sought-after Rosé. I opted for the Always Sparkling (Hampton Water Rosé; Lemon Juice; Strawberry; Cognac, and a splash of sparkling wine) which was a lightly sweet, fruit-forward, and thankfully had very little acidity.
Jesse Bongiovi, who spent his childhood traveling the globe, was first introduced to what his father dubbed ”Pink Juice” during summers in the Hamptons with his friends. Years later, Bongiovi and Thomas began calling the beverage Hampton Water since they often drank Rosé instead of water and teased Bon Jovi regarding the nickname. According to Jesse Bongiovi, his father declared, “You two should put your degrees in business to work and create Hampton Water!”
Armed with a business goal, the trio met with numerous vintners in Europe before choosing former rugby union player and third-generation vintner Gérard Bertrand. Gérard, who owns eleven wineries on the Mediterranean coast, worked closely with the Bongiovi family and Ali Thomas to create the Rosé. After its initial launch in 2018, Hampton Water Rosé has since won several tasting awards and consistently received a 90-Point rating on every vintage.
Hampton Water Rosé is a blend of 60% Grenache; 15% Cinsault; 15% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah, which is then fermented inside French Oak barrels to create a wonderful bouquet of flavors on your palate. If you would like to taste their highly-acclaimed Rosé you can find a local purveyor near you or order a bottle to be shipped directly to you by visiting their website, https://hamptonwaterwine.com.
