July 16, 2022- The Black Farmers Produce Fest at 59th & Greenway was a huge accomplishment for the Black farmers. There were a variety of vendors there, including Mill Creek Farm, Sankofa, Highmark Wholecare, and The Discovery Center, and I were fortunate enough to attend and witness this positive turnout. Many people gathered at this festival to learn from health professionals (about an ideal healthy lifestyle), enjoy fresh organic fruits and vegetables, and connect with others.
At the festival, I was also able to speak with two of the lead organizers, Pastor Darien Thomas and Shirlene Thomas-Moore lead organizers for the festival, who were on hand and shared their feelings about the turnout and the value of this event to our communities.
