Do you know what time it is? It’s Primary Election time! In Pennsylvania, the Primary Election is Tuesday, May 17, 2022. The primary election in Delaware isn’t until Tuesday, September 13, 2022, and New Jersey already had its Primary Election on April 14th.
Here’s what you need to know about the Pennsylvania Primary: In the upcoming Tuesday, May 17th Primary Election, the Democratic and Republican parties are nominating candidates for U.S. Senate, Governor, U.S. Congress, and State Representative seats, as well as State Senators who represent even-numbered districts.
While selecting who the next Governor of Pennsylvania will be is a priority. The decision of who the next United States Senator will be from Pennsylvania (to take the seat held by Republican Pat Toomey for so many years) might end up being a nail biter on primary election night after all the votes are casted and counted.
U.S. Senators and Congresspersons are tied to everything happening politically in our nation’s capitol. Our other United States Senator is Democrat Bob Casey, Jr., Casey is next up for reelection in 2024.
Monday, May 2nd was the last day to register to vote if you intended to vote in the May 17th Primary Election. May 10th is the last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot. May 17th is the last day for County Boards of Elections to receive voted mail-in and civilian absentee ballots. May 17th is also primary election day for voters who chose to vote in person at their polling place. The polls open at 7am and remain open until 8pm.
