“I’m truly humbled and honored to be recognized by the NAACP for Live Breathe Fight and ‘Working For Me,’” said Tamela. “I’m grateful to God for allowing me to have this opportunity, and I’m thankful to the Image Awards for giving this music a platform to reach people.”
With a career spanning over three decades, Tamela Mann has become one of the most influential voices in gospel music. She first gained recognition as a member of Kirk Franklin and the Family, delivering lead vocals on classics like “Now Behold the Lamb” and “Lean on Me.” After launching her solo career, she quickly be- came a gospel major player, earning numerous awards, including Grammy, Stellar, Dove, and BET Awards.
Her breakout solo album, Best Days (2012), featuring the smash hit “Take Me to the King,” permanently etched her status as a gospel icon. The song, written by Kirk Franklin, became one of the most impactful gospel songs of the decade, spending weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel charts and earning platinum certification.
Her latest single, “Deserve To Win,” is currently climbing the gospel charts. To compliment her success even further, a new documentary, Winning Is Personal: The Story of “Deserve To Win,” is set to premiere soon on MannTV, giving fans an inside look at the song’s inspiration and impact.
Beyond music, Tamela Mann is a hardworking entrepreneur as she has her own athleisure clothing line, which caters to plus-size women with stylish, comfortable apparel. She is also a decorated actress, as many have seen her work in multiple Tyler Perry productions, including Meet the Browns and Assisted Living.
As she adds two more NAACP Image Awards to her growing collection, it’s clear that her impact on gospel music and beyond remains as powerful as ever and will for years to come.
