On Sunday, August 29 the Supreme Gospel Entertainment team and partners distributed over 150 book bags to students, and for the first time over 50 teacher supply bags. Weeks leading up to the big outreach the team collected in-kind donations, gift cards, cash, and more.
Since all students were going back into the classrooms this year, it was imperative that they receive essential tools to effectively start the school year. It was equally important that educators receive necessary items to assist them as they begin their school year teaching our beloved children. Inside the book bags, students found spiral notebooks composition books, crayons, pens, pencils, masks, folders, highlighters, and hand sanitizer. Teacher bags were filled with file folders, writing instruments, post-its, masks, face shields, disinfectant wipes, stress balls, and other goodies.
Joining Supreme Gospel in its continual outreach endeavors were Shelly Williams (Single on a Saturday Night TV), Sadina Davis (Create the Look Staffing), Patrice DeLisser (Indie Go Inspire), and Sherri Darden (Scoop USA). Other sponsors included Paula Moore of What’s Happening Philly Newspaper, Tonya Ginyard of Esther Productions, and the Merge Music Group family. The outreach was held at Germantown Church of the Brethren in Mt. Airy, where Richard Kyrematen is pastor.
As families arrived, they had a relieved look on their faces as if a slight burden had been lifted. Parents virtually hugged staffers, and children smiled as they thanked the team. Free books were also distributed courtesy of the Philadelphia School District as well as Toyota book bags donated from Indie Go Inspire.
The outreach team helpers ranged in age from 6 years to adults and beyond. One person that came to pick up a bag ended up staying and helping hand out bags. The following day, some teacher bags were hand-delivered in an effort to let them know just how appreciated they are.
When one educator received her bag, she joyfully asked, “All this for me??” The Supreme Gospel Entertainment Back to School Outreach “Teachers’ Edition” was a total hit and blessing! To all the students – have a safe and blessed school year. To all the educators, we pray that God will keep you and protect you as you teach our most precious jewels.
