Gun violence took center stage this past weekend at the play Disconnect from the Drama and Reconnect to Love.
Parents were in awe of the production and the impact it had on their children. I received calls from two friends expressing how impressed they were with the show. One explained, “My daughter is still talking about the play. It really had an impact on her,” said Glo- ria, who heard about the play through Scoop USA Media Newspaper.
Students in the Youth Performing Arts Program at CSN Productions presented their final project, a play called “Disconnect from the Drama and Reconnect to Love.” This is a story about two families that disconnect from a tragedy and reconnect through love. The show focused on the ripple effects of gun violence beyond the victim and the perpetrator. Students got a chance to show off the skills they acquired during the 6-week program. The play received rave reviews from parents and children. Delores Sapp, who brought her grandson Gage, wrote on Facebook, “The young people did an excellent job. She appeared on The Tamron Hall Show, walked the runway for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women event, released a new single – a remake of the Ashford & Simpson R&B classic, “It Seems To Hang On,” as well as earning a Star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame on August 10, 2023.
