After a 14-year hiatus, Dove-nominated and Stellar Award-winning Gospel Praise & Worship artist Stephen Hurd makes a triumphant return with his new single, “You Are My God.” This powerful and refreshing track, produced by Washington, DC’s Brandon Maclin, Phil Walker, and the multi-Grammy, Stellar, and Dove Award-winning Aaron Lindsey, is sure to resonate with listeners.
Stephen Hurd penned “You Are My God” in Pretoria, South Africa in 2019. However, the onset of the global pandemic brought unforeseen challenges, leading him to temporarily set the song aside. About two years ago, Hurd felt a renewed inspiration, saying, “I heard that sound again.” This time, he brought together a team of producers to finish the track. The vocal arrangements, crafted by Jimmy Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland, add a dynamic touch that listeners will love.
With its accessible melody, “You Are My God” is a song that can easily be sung during Sunday morning worship or at afternoon concerts. It is set to be the first single from Hurd’s highly anticipated worship project, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2025.
During his time away from the music industry, Stephen focused on writing a worship book and completing a Music Business degree at Howard University. Now, he’s ready to share the fresh, anointed music that has been on his heart.
Stephen Hurd is no stranger to the Gospel community. He first made his mark in the late 1990s with songs like “Zion Is Calling” and “Gonna Have A Good Time.” His career soared in the early 2000s when he collaborated with Jackie Patillo and Integrity Gospel, releasing hits such as “Undignified Praise,” “Lead Me to The Rock,” “My Destiny,” “Great Praise,” and “Revelation 19:1,” which have become staples in Gospel music.
Hurd is excited about this new season of music and promises listeners an encounter with Jesus through his songs.
