Spotlight on Sheila Ireland, Philadelphia OIC

Reading Time: 2 minutes

PHILADELPHIA, PA – “One voice can change a room!” This great quote by America’s greatest U.S. President Barack Obama–best describes the human tsunami Ms. Sheila Ireland, the new CEO/President of the Philadelphia OIC.

Sheila is a touted business leader with extensive service in the Philadelphia community and a former business leader/influencer at the state level working for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry as the former Deputy Secretary of Workforce Development. Her Philly roots are deep, graduating from Community College of Philadelphia, Fox School of Business/Temple University, and LaSalle University, earning her Associate, Bachelor, and Master’s degrees respectively.

When asked about her highest priority in serving as the top executive of the Philadelphia OIC, she said, “My priority is to make sure we are not a secret any longer.”

“Philadelphia OIC is currently a hidden gem in the workforce space in Philadelphia. We have the resources and capacity to greatly impact the disconnection from the labor market that many communities in Philadelphia are experiencing. Partners who tour our space are stunned to see that we have a large commercial kitchen and training space, mock hotel suites, science labs, computer labs, and a music recording studio.”

The mission of the Philadelphia OIC is dedicated to the elimination of poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy through education and job training. How does Sheila plan to fulfill this mission while elevating the success of the Philadelphia OIC?

“First and foremost, I am a businessperson. I’m focused on the delivery of bottom-line data-driven results for my organization; AND for the people and companies that I serve.
