Southwest Philadelphia SWD Church Black History Month Award Ceremony and Symposium

On Saturday, February 26, the members of Southwest Philadelphia SWD Church held its Black History Month Ceremony and Symposium. During the ceremony, the members of SWD Church presented Southwest Philadelphia political leaders with awards in recognition of their hard work and dedication to the community. 

Following the award presentation, Councilwoman Jamie Gauthier, State Senator Anthony Williams, and Councilman Kenyatta Johnson participated in a panel discussion moderated by Pastor Ja’Mon Johnson. The topics discussed by the panel ranged from violence in the community to housing/property petitions and many concerns raised by members of the church, including safety on the Septa “L” train to how the city and state can help small businesses.
