What A Day! What A Day! What A Day! Yes in Deedy. My SCOOP USA MEDIA UNIVERSE, and I mean Universe! If You were there, you’ll understand the magnitude and significant of the First Annual Sonny Driver Community Day and why I am saying, “UNIVERSE!”
Family, My Brothers and Sisters, Ladies and Gentlemen, WE HAD A BALL! Yes Lord, “Thank You for Your Perfect Day!” The Weather fantastic! The Atmosphere phenomenal! The People dynamic! The Program off-the-hook! The Day praiseworthy! The Universe was in place for Us! It was a LoveFest, HomeGrown Weekend Special of all times!
It was an introduction, an awards ceremony, a cultural experience, a block party, an announcement, a children playhouse, a jazz concert, a youth dance ensemble, an informational session, a community Mini-Mall, a historical/memorable recognition and a day of change! All in all, it was a Day of Charge-up, a Rear and Special Moment in Time. You can take this to the bank. Editor and Owner Sherri Darden put a “Crown and New Face on the 900 Block of Watts Street and Broad & Girard Ave. in general.
Just the “Beauty” of Opening the Day with the Clef Club Jazz and Performing Arts of Philadelphia Youth Ensemble and rounding out the Day with the extraordinary Straight-Out of Camden, New Jersey, the Universal African Dance and Drum Ensemble is one for the ages!
The Day took-off, and from there it continued to grow stronger, bolder and more eloquent. Brother Robert “Baba” Kenyatta presented Sister Sherri Darden with a portrait he personally drawn and hand crafted. Sister Sherri accepted it with grace and pure humbleness! She thanked everyone involved, all who came out and sentimentally expressed her love for Sonny, her family and the whole SCOOP USA MEDIA connection! The activities of the Day were nonstop, captivating and emotionally overwhelming.
Ms. Cathy Hicks, President of the NAACP and the longtime Publisher of the Philadelphia Sunday Sun, wowed the crowd with her illustrious and praiseworthy comments regarding SCOOP’s history and commitment to the Community and its Readers. She also stated Sister Sherri’s has been a part of that history since she was teenager! Ms. Hicks longevity in communication, her extensive service, and exceptional and continued works in behalf of our communities, so this is a great testament for everyone involved in SCOOP USA MEDIA!
Continuing on with the Day! The tables of information were on point! The packages given out were extremely critical and necessary in addressing many of our crucial issues in these days and times; the awards ceremony precious and outstanding; the food fulfilling.
