Six Grammy Nominations for Motown Gospel

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Motown Gospel is on the move as it celebrates six GRAMMY® nominations across its talented roster of artists. From contemporary Gospel music to jazz–the Motown team came out swinging this year.

Beloved jazz duo, The Baylor Project received a nomination for The Evening: Live At APPARATUS, with Marcus Baylor also receiving a Best Improvised Jazz Solo nomination for “Call of the Drum” from the same album. Multiple GRAMMY®-winner Tye Tribbett garnered two nominations—one for Best Gospel Performance/Song (“Get Up”) and the other for Best Gospel Album (All Things New).

Perhaps the most noticeable series of achievements have come from the choirmaster himself, Ricky Dillard, who received a Best Gospel Album nomination for his most recent album—Breakthrough: The Exodus (Live). The nominations ended with one for Gene Moore for his feature on PJ Morton’s “The Better Benediction,” along with vocalists Zacardi Cortez, Tim Rogers, Samoht, and Darrel Walls, in the Best Gospel Performance/Song category.
