PHILADELPHIA, August 28, 2023 — School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Tony B. Watlington, Sr., Ed.D., joined by Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, Board of Education Member Sarah-Ashley Andrews, Philadelphia Phillies Ambassador and 1993 National League Champion Mickey Morandini, and Ambassador Scott Palmer, as well as the Phillie Phanatic and Phillies
Ballgirls, held a special back-to-school event as part of the District’s annual Ring the Bell PHL campaign.
In addition to sharing updates for the first day of school, Dr. Watlington and others recognized students from the Office of School Safety (OSS)’s Police Athletic League of Philadelphia (PAL) and students from the Lighthouse Recreational League.
