Rev. Al Sharpton visits to Bright Hope Baptist Church

On Sunday, October 30, 2022—Rev. Al Sharpton, known for his civil rights activism, attended Sunday morning service at Bright Hope Baptist Church, where he spoke and preached on today’s politics and its effect on Black America. 

Rev. Sharpton, who has been at the forefront of the modern civil rights movement for nearly half a century, isn’t a stranger to Bright Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Darron D. McKinney, Senior Pastor, welcomed this great orator to the Bright Hope pulpit. 

Rev. Sharpton expressed how Philadelphians should be enthused vote, sharing that he witnessed the enthusiasm that Philadelphians had about the Phillies being in the World Series but did not get the same sentiments with regard to the upcoming elections. Going deeper into why he feels people should be encouraged to vote. Rev. Sharpton discussed the political climate, which he believes we can fix, stating that we must focus on the issues and vote for what we believe is Right! 

Rev. Sharpton was in Philadelphia for the unveiling of a new documentary film about his life entitled “LOUDMOUTH.” LOUDMOUTH is a powerful portrait of a figure whose voice feels more vital than ever. 

Rev. Al Sharpton is an American civil rights activist, Baptist minister, talk show host and politician. Sharpton is the founder of the National Action Network. In 2004, he was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Presidential election. He hosts his own radio talk show, Keeping It Real and he makes frequent appearances on cable news television. In 2011, he was named the host of MSNBC’s PoliticsNation, a nightly talk show. In 2015, the program was shifted to Sunday mornings. In October, 2020, PoliticsNation was rescheduled to Saturdays and Sundays, airing at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time both days.
