Queens, NY – Resorts World New York City (RWNYC) will unveil a new Red Wall Art Gallery exhibit and host a reception to honor Women’s History Month on Saturday, March 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The exhibit, “Center Stage: The Power of Women Artists in New York and Philadelphia, was curated by Danny Simmons, who grew up in Jamaica, Queens, and along with his brothers, music mogul Russell Simmons, and hip-hop legend Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons, co-founded the Rush Arts Gallery. Danny is also the founder and VP of the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

“This powerful exhibit highlights the importance of women artists in the cultural landscape,” said Danny Simmons, Founder and Vice President, Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation. “I am honored to have the opportunity to feature creators from NYC and my new home of Philadelphia who are deeply dedicated to their art careers and have demonstrated having unique artistic voices perfected over years working in their art studios, pushing limits and creating beautiful works of art.”

“Women are so often seen as the subject of artwork, rather than the creative force behind it,” said Michelle Stoddart, Vice President of Community Development, Resorts World New York City. “We could think of no better time than Women’s History Month to give these artists the recognition they deserve. Danny has launched the careers of some of the world’s top artists today and we’re excited to give these women a place to display their meaningful and creative works.”

Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation has partnered with Philadelphia-based women-owned gallery and resource center 1040 Creative to help pull this show together. Two of the artists featured in the exhibit, Pauline McCall and Marcy Morris, are founding members of 1040. Our other exhibiting artists are Kate Fauvell, Lusmerlin, Ellen Tiberino, Charlotte Mouqin, Wanda Payne and Sheena Vaughan.

“Center Stage: The Power of Women Artists in New York and Philadelphia” will be on display at the casino’s famed Red Wall Art Gallery through June 16.
