Community updates and encouragement
My SCOOP USA MEDIA FAMILY, How’s everything and everybody? Once again, I’m overwhelmed and twisted about what’s in front of Us, why we continue to find Ourselves in such precarious situations, and what’s keeping many of us from seeing and/or realizing it!
The brilliance of Our Young People is “Case In Point!” Why do they continue to live in such a vicious cycle of mayhem, death, and destruction when They Have The Wherewithal to push through the “Madness.” It’s said that leadership is suspect. Family breakdown is a critical key factor to their demise, and structural defections create many barriers that impede their progress and/or limit their ability to move forward!!!
For the record excuses, impediments, and disasters have always been a natural element in men’s/women’s experiences and everyday realities. Never, never, ever has such viciousness been pressed upon one group of people upon itself as to what we are witnessing, living through, and smothered by before in HISTORY.
Every day our young folk are killing one another, babies are being slaughtered, seniors are being gunned down, and families are being murdered by other family members. I can go on with the carjacking, home invasions, etc, etc, etc. My Brothers and Sisters, Ladies and Reelblack, the film production and promotion company founded by Michael Dennis, will celebrate its 20th Anniversary with a special screening of short films from its archive on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 7:00- 10:30 pm. Screening will take place at The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut Street, as part of its Bright Bulb Screening series. Admission is FREE and open to the public.
Reelblack, who identifies its mission to ‘educate, entertain, enlighten and empower through the magic of film,’ began its screening series in December 2003 at the Prince Music Theater (now the Philadelphia Film Center) about a year after Mr. Dennis began making films full-time in the city. In 2006, Reelblack TV was founded to feature celebrity interviews and concert performances, including Ava DuVernay, Spike Lee, Jazmine Sullivan, Janelle Monae, Dick Gregory, Chris Rock, and many more. The show still airs monthly on PhillyCAM

Gentlemen, I will never-ever share such atrocities without making it clear this too shall pass! We are formidable, honorable, and sanctified people who have weathered and come through many storms! And for all those who believe and have Faith, know without a doubt–that He did not bring us this far to leave us here!!!
So, to close, let’s be clear, “We did not and do not and has over 1.3 million subscribers on YouTube. Thursday night’s event will feature clips from The Reelblack TV archive as well as a surprise screening of a feature-length project of footage unseen for over a decade.
“There are a lot of great moments that would have been lost to time if not for our cameras,” said Dennis, who recently began teaching at Temple University and is about to start a video label. “On October 12, we will share a few of those memories.”
“Sharing empowering informative art for over 20 years has been life-fulfilling,” concurs Daryl De- Brest, who has partnered with Dennis since 1999 in capturing these moments. “Telling our own stories is important for self-liberation!”
