PHLCARES presents $500,000 in grants to four Philadelphia homeless service organizations

Reading Time: < 1 minute

PHILADELPHIA – PHLCares fund of Philadelphia Foundation, a business-led initiative investing in solutions to homelessness, presented its first round of funding to four homeless service organizations this week. Bethesda Project, Pathways to Housing PA, Resources for Human Development, and SELF, Inc. each received $125,000 for a year of funding for high-impact, housing-focused strategies to address chronic homelessness in Philadelphia.

Since its founding in 2019, PHLCares has raised more than $1 million from corporate and individual donors in support of providing individuals experiencing homelessness with the housing and services they need. The fund was created by some of Philadelphia’s highest-profile business and hospitality sector leaders, the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, PREIT, and Wawa. Its goal is to bring the city’s business community together to provide innovative, compassionate financial and strategic resources needed for permanent supportive housing and services to individuals experiencing chronic street homelessness. These proactive and humane approaches extend beyond Center City to Philadelphia’s various neighborhoods, including high-need areas like Kensington.
