Pennsylvania CareerLink® Montgomery County Celebrates Grand Reopening of its Norristown Location

NORRISTOWN, PA, August 12, 2021 – The Pennsylvania CareerLink® Montgomery County, a proud partner of the American Job Center Network, celebrated its grand reopening during a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Department of Labor and Industry and the Montgomery County Commissioners. PA CareerLink® Montgomery County continues to be a resource for those seeking help with finding employment and job training. 

“It was my honor to join Montgomery County’s PA CareerLink® to open its new center and highlight PA CareerLink® Day,” said Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development Sheila Ireland. “As our economy continues to recover, PA CareerLink® centers offer vital resources to job seekers and businesses throughout our commonwealth. Individuals new to the workforce, career changers, and those looking to reskill for advancement can take advantage of the many program offerings PA CareerLink® centers provide that will lead them to the profession fit for them.” 

While the unemployment rate is stabilizing, there are still an estimated 22,100 unemployed Montgomery County residents in the labor force. The PA CareerLink® Montgomery County continues to work to help people find employment through in-person and virtual assistance. Since April 2020, they have served 1,482 residents, provided 178 residents with training opportunities, and connected 322 residents to employment. 

“As job seekers continue to face challenges finding work due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage Montco residents to reach out to PA CareerLink® Montgomery County for no-cost help to get their career back on track,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “We know that PA CareerLink® services are paramount to helping our residents in need return to family-sustaining employment as soon as possible.” 

With the PA CareerLink® Montgomery County office located inside the Montgomery County Health and Human Services Center, job seekers can access the multitude of services offered at the location including Community Connections, the county’s central intake for people requesting assistance in health and human services, including Senior Services; Public Health; Veterans Affairs; Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities and Early Intervention; Children and Youth, Early Learning Resource Center and more. 

“The Human Services Center is the County’s one-stop-shop for a variety of resident-facing health and human services,” said Kenneth E. Lawrence, Jr., Vice-Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “Having the PA CareerLink® office here helps our residents to get the services they need without having to travel to multiple locations.” 

PA CareerLink® Montgomery County can assist job seekers with the following services: 

* General Unemployment Compensation claim guidance 

* Personalized career counseling and job search assistance 

* A full menu of online and in-person workshops 

* Skill and vocational training opportunities (eligibility required)
