On Saturday, October 2, 2021, the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission presented only its 26 Marker in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania honoring, Dr. Oscar James Cooper. A founder of the Omega Psi Phi, the historically Black fraternity, also a community medical doctor in Philadelphia with a 50-year practice servicing the insured and uninsured. Dr. Cooper founded the 2nd Chapter of the fraternity at Lincoln University in 1914 and Philadelphia’s first Chapter on October 1, 1920, celebrating its 101 anniversary. He also was a founder of the Pyramid Club, which provided Philadelphia’s Black professionals the venue for social, civic, and cultural events.
