More than 100 Employees Volunteer at Philabundance, MANNA, Caring for Friends, and more!

PHILADELPHIA, April 13, 2023–More than 100 PECO employees teamed up with a number of community partners working to drive hunger from our communities and increase access to nutritious meals for National Volunteer Month. PECO formally kicked off this month of giving back, on Thursday, April 13, by joining Philabundance staff members for a day of sorting, packing, and preparing non-perishables and fresh food for distribution. The work done by PECO employee volunteers will go toward furthering Philabundance’s commitment to feeding more than 135,000 children, families, and seniors across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey every week.

Annually, PECO employees participate in National Volunteer Month by teaming up with nonprofits across PECO’s service territory that continue to meet the needs of the communities they serve. In 2022, PECO employees logged more than 18,000 volunteer hours. This year, PECO employees will take part in over 50 service projects throughout the month of April. Along with projects that include various cleanups, interactive activities with Shriners Hospitals for Children patients, afterschool tutoring, and more, PECO employee volunteers are supporting partners that work with individuals and families struggling with hunger and food insecurity, including:

MANNA, which provides medically tailored meals and nutrition education

Caring for Friends, whose mission is to provide food and friendship to seniors, kids, and adults in the five-county Philadelphia region, and

Share Food Program, which distributes free meals to millions of individuals, families, and food pantries every year
