PECO hosts the Fourth Infrastructure Academy

Reading Time: < 1 minute

This week, PECO hosted the company’s fourth Infrastructure Academy ̶ an exclusive three-day class led by PECO leaders that will equip job seekers with the skills they need for careers in the energy industry. The sessions included a company overview, mock interviews, and assessment demonstrations of how to safely work in craft positions. Additionally, PECO partnered with 15 employers from the Greater Philadelphia region to connect participants to career opportunities within their respective companies. Over 100 job seekers interested in pursuing careers as electric or natural gas mechanics were in attendance on Monday evening. Several elected officials attended and were represented, including Cherelle Parker, President of City Council, Darrell L. Clarke, Council Members Kendra Brooks and Jamie Gauthier–at the closing event on Wednesday, September 21.

Through PECO’s workforce development initiative, the company is working to create and support an inclusive workforce that mirrors the communities it serves. One of the ways PECO executes this mission is with the Infrastructure Academy. Infrastructure is an important driver for the growth of the economy as electricity, public utilities, telecommunications, and others are essential services that drive economic activity.

PECO partner, Beyond Literacy, offered guidance for professional exams (Construction and Skilled Trade Selection System, AMO), and the following organizations were in attendance to share information about job opportunities:

● Amtrak

● Asplundh
