On the morning of Friday, April 11, 2025, high school juniors and seniors from across Delaware County were welcome to PECO’s third Junior Infrastructure Academy, an interactive event designed to bring awareness to students about the skills necessary to pursue a career in the energy industry. Held on the campus of Widener University, the Academy is part of PECO’s broader commitment to building a strong, diverse pipeline of future talent, empowering youth by providing early exposure to the energy sector and creating pathways for careers that pay a living wage.
During the event, the students engaged in hands-on breakout activities that brought the real possibilities of careers in the energy field to life, with live safety demonstrations showcasing how field employees work safely n real-world situations, interactive building stations allowing students to explore tools and technology used in the industry, mock interviews helped to build professional readiness and offer insight into the hiring process, and career pathway discussions allowed students insight into various roles within the company from line workers to engineers and customer support professionals.
PECO is helping to shape the workforce of tomorrow by connecting local youth with real professionals and hands-on experiences and equipping them with practical skills.
Participation was exceptional, and students appeared enthusiastic about the opportunities presented at the Infrastructure Academy. Community members are grateful for PECO’s dedication and commitment to our region as it continues to be a resource for Delaware County and other areas throughout Pennsylvania.
