On July 30th, Senator Street, Congressman Dwight Evans, and Representative Danilo Burgos joined members of PAAN and several neighborhood organizations for a ‘Peace And Unity In The Street’ Community Caravan.
The caravan started at 15th & Diamond Streets-and made several stops throughout North Philadelphia, engaging the community in the discussion of how we can work together to Stop Violence in our Neighborhoods. The final stop on the caravan was Mander Playground at 33rd & Diamond Streets, where Senator Street’s office hosted a community day with food and music for the youth.
At Mander, there was a discussion with attendees that began with prayers and a brief introduction of the participants. Each participant stressed the importance of centers such as Mander Recreation Center, and how we can use them to counter the violence in Philadelphia; and the negative impact that gun violence has on Philadelphia communities and families, and provided their insights on how we must work together.
