My SCOOP USA Family! If You thought last week was a lit torch, a heads up for the Young Folks, Ladies, and Gentlemen, My Brothers, and Sisters, this week is a real good uplifting for the Elders.
It feels so wonderful when you can say, “Thank You God” and really know it! Being overjoyed with the creative energy of a remarkable moment is a Gift, a Blessings!!! There’s still plenty of sunshine in these pathetic vicious cloudy days. You know me, I’m going to stay positive to keep the devil and the demonic forces at bay!
The Committee for a Better North Philadelphia, Inc. (CBNP) once again came bold and strong with another captivating outreach. (Pushing for Another Gold Medal in the well-being of Our People and caring for mankind or better still, God’s creation). Yes, last week we connected with our youth to host a Family and Friends Day at three Recreational Center’s Summer Camps to bring our Police Department to connect and engage with the young people in the programs. Once again, their beauty and raw untapped talents blossomed like a rose opening up to sunlight, just showing their brilliance in a mighty special way! The elders had their moments there, but the spotlight was on the children, the youth!!! Nonetheless, here’s where the Red Sea opened up, and Moses, the white-bearded one, came strolling through! Respect, the movie showing the darling life of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, was a movie everyone was talking about and had made up their minds to see. And let me assure you, it is definitely worth seeing.
CBNP in conjunction with the AMC 7 at Broad and Oxford Street, made it possible for our elders and some family members to have a morning screening in a private setting where peace, calm, and tranquility were the soul of the moment. What an opportunity to go to a movie, and the hustle, bustle, and noise were not a factor in “Your Showtime” entertainment. For this, we proudly salute the New Manager Ryan Murphy, and his colleagues for a prestigious occasion. Brother David and his associate made the day a “Blessing” and served everyone humbly. The elders and their family and friends were amazed at how well the event was organized. It was smooth sailing throughout the day. The excited movie-goers came in, grabbed their refreshment package (popcorn, soda, and candy pack) made it to their seats without a fuss or cuss anywhere. Everyone had pure respect for one another.
Representative Malcolm Kenyatta’s office greeted the group and gave them a carrying bag with some very valuable information. The Central Division Victim Services (CDVS) provided information packages about their services and how they assist victims of crime. CBNP’s primary sponsor Girard Pharmacy gave out plaque cards with great information and how they could be contacted. They made it clear, they were a premier service pharmacy, and utilizing them would give you a pharmacist at your doorsteps. Great information and a comfortable environment set the stage and tone for Respect at AMC.
What a beginning for the Senior Day Reunion! And as was already said, Jennifer Hudson’s Academy Award performance was phenomenal. The tears that flowed throughout the theater at the end of the movie moved what began as a marvelous day and made it a magnificent occurrence! The seniors, our elders, were pushed to the mountain top in a blissful, graciously lovable way. They all said, “We’ve Been to the Mountain Top!”
Then to ease them down, they treated themselves to a royal lunch at Barber’s Hall that was delightful and remarkably fulfilling. They were ecstatic to receive the same treatment at Barber’s Hall as they did at the movie. The food was delicious, the service incredible, and all in all, they had a ball. Give a hand to Mona (Everyone’s Server) and Mr. Cook the Chef of Barber’s Hall, for adding to lifting our Elders to the zenith of primetime. The Seniors Movie Day Reunion was All That and more.
Yes, these are critical moments out here. Most of us are trying to find a way to ease the pain, reduce the stress and stop the madness particularly the violence, the killings, the hate, and disrespect. Doing creative outings, putting forth moments of peace and relaxation, and exposing individuals and families to resources/educational opportunities is Our Mission and this is what we are pushing for and working towards. The Senior Movie Day is one of our vehicles, and you are welcome to be a part!!! It’s a Monthly Thing. You can join us! Just reach out to The Committee for a Better North Philadelphia, Inc.! All are welcome.
What are You doing to stop the madness, the violence, the slaughtering of our children, endangering our elders..? Peace and Blessings always! Here’s to saving and giving space for the answers, Brother Tyrone L. Reed
