I have not seen one single credible news media outlet give a report indicating: the U.S. Surgeon General, nor Dr. Fauci, whom I consider, “America’s Doctor,” nor the President of the United States, nor the World Health Organization (WHO), come out and officially declared the Coronavirus pandemic as being over. You know, the virus that bought the world to its knees for almost 24 months straight, with people dying left and right from Paris to England, Brazil, America, and beyond from January 2020-January 2022.
Truth be told, things are really just starting to do a turnaround that sort of seems to be lasting. That’s not a very sophisticated way of saying that every time we (American citizens) get our hopes up and start believing life will go back to normal all of a sudden, somewhere in some cities in America, we start hearing news reports that the number of people diagnosed with COVID is on the rise again. Or, we hear on the news that there’s a new variant of COVID that medical doctors and scientists have become aware of, and it’s the kind of strain that’s even stronger and easier to pass on from one human being to another than the original nightmare, COVID-19.
Whew. Tired yet?
In my head and even to my Publisher, I keep saying I look forward to writing about other issues. There are so many important things happening in the Delaware Valley. There are a lot of good things happening in the tri-state area. There’s also that nasty, ugly word and action called violence that rages on–across the nation. It is another pandemic that some still won’t label a pandemic.
On January 30, 2020, COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), with an official death toll of 171. By December 30, 2020, this figure stood at 1,813,188. Other estimates suggest the total number of global deaths attributable to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 is at least 3 million, representing 1.2 million more deaths than officially and initially, reported.
