There’s a long, long list of elected officials who have committed crimes and have had to do the time; on the national level and certainly here in Philadelphia and around the tri-state area. So why not former President Donald Trump? Just because he served as the 45th president of the United States does not make him above the law.
Since I am the one who has the responsibility for writing a Civics column every week for the SCOOP Newspaper, something I am very proud to do, what I am learning, and we all are witnessing, is that even when you are the President of the United States, if you are found to be suspected of committing some crimes, you must answer for that.
It almost seemed as if Donald Trump would get away with all of his misdeeds, but now it seems–alleged illegal activities and those of his closet inner circle of staff and supporters will finally have to pay for his actions and their actions. Finally! They say, sometimes, that the wheels of American justice move very slowly, but if slow gets me a deserved conviction at the end of the day, I’ll take slow and easy.
Our civics column, in part, is about showing readers and demonstrating to readers of the SCOOP how the American legal system works, what our basic laws and beliefs are for this land called America, knowing or at least trying to understand the three arms of Government, basic American history, and more.
Here’s the deal: Former President Donald Trump has now been indicted; many political insiders have predicted that Trump being indicted will not stop his campaign train from still running forward. Could Trump still become President if he’s convicted?
