I’d like to offer congratulations to my niece Lisa Lavender on her graduation from middle school. Lisa’s going to be a freshman in high school in September. What distinguishes Lisa’s graduation from that of many others who made it through 15 months of a pandemic to graduation was her perseverance. Faced with personal challenges that most 14-year-olds will never face in a lifetime, she met those challenges head-on and continues to thrive, looking forward to her high school experience and her college experience to follow. I am in complete awe of the young lady you’re becoming, and I can’t wait to see you leave your mark on the universe. I celebrate and support your accomplishments.
