You remember Shaun T, “Insanity” fitness personality who has made waves in the health and lifestyle space for close to 20 years. Known for his fitness program “Hip Hop Abs” and selling over 10 million DVDs since partnering with Beachbody4, his new strength training workout program, “DIG DEEPER,” is now what everyone is talking about in addition to his bodybuilding career.
Born as Shaun Thompson in Camden, New Jersey, he grew up in Philly and was raised by his grandparents in Deptford Township, New Jersey, where he enjoyed football, baseball, and running track as a student at Deptford Township High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Rowan University, where he also minored in theater and dance.
“One day, someone who worked at Beachbody witnessed the Saturday WeHo fitness mayhem and asked me to audition,” he revealed on his website. “Later, they offered me my own infomercial! I was 25.” Since that fateful day, Shaun has introduced several equally successful programs, including “Rockin’ Body” and his “Insanity” series, brand deals, and a popular show in the podcast sphere.
If you recall …Shaun became a household name with his fitness programs for adults and children, which include T25, Insanity, Hip-Hop Abs, Cize, and Let’s Get Up! The Camden-born trainer turned to bodybuilding and became a physique competitor in several bodybuilding events.
“I’m hoping to get my pro card–that’s the goal,” he says. “But the fun part [of bodybuilding] is the fitness aspect of it. I like going to the gym and meeting people and hearing what they want, and also, meeting people in the fitness field—it actually helps me design and develop.”
