New categories and entry deadlines announced for the 40th annual awards
PHILADELPHIA – The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced today four new categories and the entry deadlines for the 40th Annual Mid-Atlantic EMMY® Awards. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter will add four new award categories bringing the total number to 78. The new categories are:
- – Sports Excellence
- – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – News
- – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Short Form
- – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Long Form
“As the Mid-Atlantic Chapter opens the entry submission process for this milestone year, we want to recognize the enormous obstacles that our industry continues to overcome in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The passionate and talented professionals in our region have continue to tell impactful stories, cover breaking news, and share critical information with their communities in creative ways,” said Laura McHugh, president of the NATAS Mid-Atlantic Chapter. “We are excited to introduce four new categories, three of which highlight our members’ important work covering issues related to equity and justice. Our chapter’s DEI committee played an integral role in championing for the addition of the new award categories, not only in our region, but also with chapters across the country.”
The NATAS Mid-Atlantic Chapter entries are being accepted now through April 29, with an early entry discounted deadline of April 8 and standard deadline of April 22. Entries submitted after April 22 will incur late fees. College entries are also being accepted through April 29. Nominees will be announced virtually on August 9.
