My Peace Not Guns Fall Fest

Reading Time: < 1 minute

PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 28, 2023—My Peace Not Guns Fall Fest hosted by Philadelphia City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson (Second District) was held on Saturday, October 28, at Elmwood Park in Southwest Philadelphia.
It’s not often that we get to see kids enjoying a safe space and just enjoying being kids. For those who were in this space on October 28, this is exactly what we saw. Kids being kids, rapping, dancing, and just having a great time. This day is what our kids need and what we all should work hard to accomplish for them. They deserve an opportunity to be kids. “This Fall Fest is a way for me to say ‘Thank you’ to the residents of the Southwest Philadelphia section of the Second Council District and to celebrate the start of Fall with a festive event,” Johnson said. “In addition to the free food, fun, and entertainment, there were information tables from different community organizations that provided valuable anti-violence resources. The event highlighted Philadelphia musical performers (D Strudy, 5 Star Twins, Philly Goat Spence, and Sista Keilana) who brought a stop-the-violence message to everyone attending the event.”
My Peace Not Guns Fall Fest was sponsored by the Cops And Kids Program, Salone FC (football club), and Achieve College Education. The event was held in partnership with Anne’s Helping Hands, DOPE by ANX, Yungest in Charge, Eastwick Friends & Neighbors Coalition (EFNC), and ABRO (Always Be Real Original Inc.).
Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson, a former Pennsylvania State Representative, represents the Second Council District, which includes parts of Center City, South Philadelphia, and Southwest Philadelphia. He is Chairman of the City Council’s Special Committee on Gun Violence Prevention.
