NORRISTOWN, PA – The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC), in partnership with its technical and engineering consultant, NV5, is nearing completion of its feasibility study of the easternmost segment of Montgomery County’s Cross County Trail. This 5-mile-long section of trail, when completed, will begin at Welsh Road in Upper Dublin Township and terminate at the county’s Pennypack Trail. The project involves several municipalities, including Upper Dublin, Upper Moreland, and Bryn Athyn.
Now through Friday, June 24, 2022, community members can visit the project web page at www.montcopa.org/CrossCountyTrailEast to review the detailed concept plans for the proposed trail alignment and submit questions and comments. Also included on the website is a drone flyover video of the proposed route, commissioned by the trail planning consultant, which contains graphics indicating the proposed route and nearby landmarks.
In addition, community members may visit the project web page to register for a live, virtual open house, which will take place on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. via Zoom. Representatives from MCPC and NV5 will share information about the concept plans for the proposed alignment and answer questions at any time throughout the 90-minute period. Participants are encouraged to view the drone video and submit comments on the concept plans for the proposed alignment.
Once completed, the Cross County Trail is planned to run 17.5 miles from Conshohocken in the west to the Pennypack Trail in the east and will connect the Schuylkill River Trail and the Wissahickon, Cresheim, and Power Line Trails.
