Distribution events will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the following locations:

9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Pottstown Health Center, 364 King Street, Pottstown, PA 19464

2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Keystone Fire Company, 240 N. Walnut St., Boyertown, PA 19512

No pre-registration for these distribution events is required.

Potassium iodide, or KI, can help protect the thyroid gland against harmful radioactive iodine when taken as directed during radiological emergencies. Individuals should only take KI when told to do so by state health officials or the Governor.

Ordering & Pick-up Instructions

For people who are unable to attend the distribution event KI tablets are available year-round. KI tablets can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pottstown Health Center located at 364 King Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.

To expedite the process, individuals and businesses can complete the online KI request form. Once received, you will be contacted when your KI request is filled and ready for pick-up.

Residents can also call (610) 970-5040 to inquire about or order KI tablets.

KI Tablets for Adults & Children: Adults and children will receive a two-day supply of KI. Directions detailing when and how to take the tablets, as well as instructions for proper storage, will be provided with the KI tablets. Individuals can pick up KI tablets for other families or those who are unable to pick them up on their own, but a separate request form must be filled out with their information.

KI Tablets for Businesses: Unlike families, businesses are given a one-day supply of KI tablets. Businesses with over 100 employees should call the Pottstown Health Center at (610) 970-5040 to provide information on the number of employees and to schedule a pick-up time.

Anyone can take KI tablets as long as they are not allergic to iodine. They are safe for pregnant people, people who are breastfeeding, people on thyroid medicine, children, and infants. Individuals who are unsure if they should take KI should contact their healthcare provider. KI tablets are not provided for pets. Contact your veterinarian for information.

Montgomery County OPH is holding this free KI distribution event in coordination with the Pennsylvania Department of Health as part of routine preventive efforts in case of future emergencies. Multiple distribution events are being held statewide to educate and support Pennsylvanians within 10 miles of the state’s four active nuclear power plants.
