On Monday, January 16, 2023, we celebrated the 28th Annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service at Girard College. We facilitated the annual “Youth Financial Reality Fair 2k23” and “Lunch with the Young Entrepreneurs.” We honored Dr. King with activities that will change the financial trajectory of the youth in our community. Dr. King’s last message was “Redistribution of the Wealth and the Pain.”
Our community has experienced so much pain, so for the sake of the youth can we concentrate on “Redistribution of Wealth” or “Economic Equity?”
As a community advocate, my Call to Action is to work with 100 Young Entrepreneurs 12 to 24 years of age over the next year and help them to create and scale their own businesses. During Dr. King’s day of service activities, more than 50 youth participated in the Youth Financial Reality Fair. We fed over 85 people during the Entrepreneurial Lunch–in addition to recruiting Young Entrepreneurs for the “Young Sharks” Project. During the Young Sharks’ first virtual meet-up Saturday, January 21, 2023, the Young Entrepreneurs and I briefly discussed the “Poor People’s Campaign.”
