Lower North Philadelphia CDC hosts first community JuneteenthFair unveils Webb Plaza

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Lower North Philadelphia CDC would like to invite you to our first community Juneteenth celebration at the new Grocery Outlet at 2077 Ridge Avenue on Saturday, June 17th, from 12 noon to 5:00 pm.

In addition to celebrating Juneteenth Day, we will honor an icon Bruce
C. Webb from our Ridge Avenue business district, who owned Webb Department Store at 22nd & Ridge Avenue. Webb’s Department Store was the neighborhood hub for information on community concerns as well as a place where you could purchase all the newest albums and concert tickets.

Bruce Webb is known all over Philadelphia and beyond for his dedication to our communities. He was a true community servant and used “music” and his record store, Webb’s Department Store—one of the prime record stores in Philadelphia—to open many doors for our community and many entertainers he mentored in the industry. They all would come to North Philly to see Mr. Webb and take that famous photo in front of the Webb sign.

Join us this Juneteenth holiday, as we will honor Bruce Webb by unveiling Webb Plaza. It truly takes a village to raise a child, but it takes the residents to uplift a community. Your presence will be greatly appreciated.
