Love & Hip Hop’s Mama Jones unites with City of Dreams Coalition for “From One Mother to Another” Citywide Tour

What is the solution to controlling the violence in the city of Philadelphia? Throughout the city, there have been town hall meetings, rallies, and concerned citizens speaking out about the state of our black and brown communities. Sister Taleah Taylor, the City of Dream Coalition founder, goes directly into neighborhoods with her team to fight for solutions, not just talk about it. “To be able to reach those in the trenches, you have to be in the trenches,” said Sister Taleah
If you google Sister Taleah, you will see that she’s been in the trenches for years, utilizing the star power of celebrities to reach the community. In a world full of injustice and hate, Sister Taleah, Love & Hip Hop’s Mama Jones, and Heat 100’s Simply Monica have united to bring about a movement of true awakening with the One Mother to Another Citywide Tour. The purpose of the tour is to empower families by first rebuilding the foundations starting with our Queens and ensuring they have the essential support and resources necessary to raise our young Kings & Queens properly.
Mama Jones was adopted as the mother of the City of Dreams Coalition at the Press Conference and Awards Recognition at City Hall on Thursday, July 21, 2021. The Awards Recognition was one stop along the Citywide Tour with Mama Jones, as the team went block by block marching with strength and solidarity for unity. One of the best ways to demonstrate unity is to unite powerful women, political leaders, media, and artists all for the common cause building our communities back to the glory our ancestors fought so hard to give us.

While on the Tour, Sister Taleah and Simply Monica gathered political leaders, entrepreneurs, and media to present them with honors. David Oh, Jannie L. Blackwell, and Rebecca Rhynhart presented a Council Citation to Nancy Mama Jones. On behalf of City of Dreams Coalition, Sister Taleah, and Heat 100’s, Simply Monica presented the following awards:

Shelly Shell Williams – Voice Award
Teana Grayson – Rising Community Award
St8barz – Community Leader & Music Industry Professional Award
Some of the most phenomenal leaders came out to make a difference. The City Leaders answered direct questions from the audience on DHS disparities. Aaron Jones of Second Chance Financial spoke on his journey of becoming a business owner after years of incarceration. He takes the knowledge he gained and gives it back to the community by teaching former inmates entrepreneurial skills and helping them to repair their credit upon exiting prison.
Mama Jones had the opportunity to meet the community and sign copies of her new book, Mama Jones: Her Guide to Love & Romance. The book is not just about relationships; it’s also a spiritual and a motivational manual. She is a God-fearing woman, and her chief philosophy is God is Love. This book will make you laugh and cry while enlightening the mind, body, heart, and soul. Nancy Jones is the mother of rapper Jim Jones. She was born in Manhattan to Aruban parents. She is a community activist, youth advocate, and self-professed hustler with several business ventures.
