Living on Purpose: A call to embrace the power within

Reading Time: 3 minutes

In a world full of noise, distractions, and daily routines, it’s easy to drift into autopilot—going through the motions without ever asking, Why am I really here? But every now and then, something shakes us awake. A moment. A memory. A loss. And we’re reminded that our time here is not promised, so we must make it count.

Recently, the world paused to mourn the passing of a giant—Pope Francis, who left this earth at the graceful age of 88. He was more than a spiritual leader; he was a voice of love, compassion, and unity in a divided world. Whether you followed his faith tradition or not, it’s hard to deny the powerful legacy he left behind. He lived his life with a clear purpose, choosing each day to serve, uplift, and connect with people from every walk of life.

That’s what purpose looks like.

It doesn’t always come with applause, titles, or global recognition. Sometimes purpose shows up in the quiet moments—when you choose kindness over criticism, when you mentor someone without expecting a thank-you, or when you forgive instead of holding a grudge. Purpose is not a destination; it’s a decision you make daily.

And yet, so many people struggle to define it. They look in the mirror and ask, What am I supposed to be doing with my life? It’s a valid question. But here’s the truth: Purpose isn’t something that comes from the outside. It’s something that rises from within.

We live in a time when it’s easy to compare ourselves to others. Social media bombards us with highlight reels of people’s “perfect” lives. It’s tempting to believe that unless we’re rich, famous, or doing something “big,” our lives don’t matter. But Pope Francis reminded us of a greater truth: Everybody matters.

He didn’t care where you came from, what language you spoke, or the color of your skin. He cared about the heart. About who you are. That’s the power of purpose—it reminds us that we are all connected and that we all have something unique to contribute to the human family.

So, how do you find your purpose?

You don’t have to travel the world or wait for some grand sign from above. Start right where you are. Look at what moves you, what breaks your heart, what brings you joy. Your purpose is often hidden in the things you naturally care about. Maybe you’re called to lead, to create, to heal, to teach, to serve. Maybe your purpose isn’t about a job title—it’s about how you show up in the lives of the people around you.

Purpose is not perfection. You don’t have to have it all figured out. In fact, you probably never will. Life is a journey of becoming. What matters most is that you keep becoming—more kind, more honest, more connected, more courageous.

When we live on purpose, we stop going through the motions and start making intentional moves. We stop playing small and start showing up as our authentic selves. We stop waiting for someone else to make a difference and realize that we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

We’re living in a time when the world desperately needs people who are awake, aware, and aligned with something deeper. People who use their voices to speak the truth. People who use their hands to build and not tear down. People who choose love over hate, light over darkness, purpose over fear.

Each of us has a light, and when we let it shine, we give others permission to do the same.

So today, take a moment to look in the mirror—not to criticize, but to recognize the greatness within you. You have something this world needs. Don’t let fear or doubt disconnect you from that truth.

Like Pope Francis, choose to live a life that leaves fingerprints on hearts. A life that echoes long after you’re gone.

Live intentionally. Live fully. Live on purpose.

Because when we all begin to live on purpose, the world becomes a brighter, kinder, more hopeful place.

And isn’t that the kind of world we all want to live in?

Let this be your reminder: You are here for a reason. Your story matters. Your light matters. So go out into the world—not to blend in, but to make a difference. Live with purpose, and help someone else do the same.
