Kicking Off Black History Month with High Hopes for a Black Woman Supreme Court Justice this year

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Here we are at the beginning of Black History Month, and we’re finding that before this year is out, history can be made if and when an African American woman is elevated to the United States Supreme Court as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. How exciting that would be, and certainly an event whose time is now. What with the announcement Thursday, January 27, 2022, that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Breyer is going to retire in June of this year. That leaves the opportunity open for our very open-minded and fair-thinking President to nominate a qualified candidate of his choice, to be vetted and hopefully confirmed, as the next liberal United States Supreme Court Judge.

President Biden says he wants to see a Black woman become the next U.S. Supreme Court Justice. He said, “I’ve made no decision except one: The person I will nominate will be someone of extraordinary qualifications, character, experience, and integrity,” Biden said. “And that person will be the first black woman ever nominated to the United States Supreme Court. It’s long overdue.”
