PHILADELPHIA, PA, December 4, 2023 – SELF Inc., Philadelphia’s largest provider of emergency housing, is pleased to share that Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.-Philadelphia Alumni Chapter, a renowned organization committed to community service, recently pro-vided clothing to those in need at three of its sites.
The clothing giveaways seek to address the pressing needs of individuals experiencing homelessness by offering them access to warm, clean, and comfortable clothing. Recognizing the significant impact that clothing can have on a person’s well-being, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity seeks to make a positive change in their com- munity by fostering this essential aspect of self-worth and care. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity collected and dropped off approximately 45 bags of clothing to three SELF Inc. sites with a series of deliveries beginning Sat- urday, November 25, 2023, with the last delivery on Saturday, December 2, 2023: Station House (2601 N. Broad Street), Michael Hinson Resource Center (1701 W. Lehigh Avenue) and Susquehanna House (1303-07 W. Susquehanna Avenue).
These drop-offs demonstrate a shared commitment to addressing homelessness and working toward improving the quality of life for those facing challenging circumstances. By focusing on the provision of essential items like clothing, the aim is to restore dignity and hope among individuals experiencing homelessness.
According to the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.- Philadelphia Alumni Chapter’s website, “Since 1922, the Philadelphia Alumni Chapter has been a pillar within the Greater Philadelphia region, having served as an incubator for leadership at the city and state levels while also generating millions of dollars in economic impact.
Each year, our Chapter devotes countless hours to community engagement, allowing us to positively impact the lives of hundreds of Philadelphians.”
