Jason Nelson, known for hit songs like “Forever” and “Residue,” has achieved his fifth No. 1 spot on the gospel charts with his latest worship anthem, “Yahweh.”
Featuring GRAMMY®-nominated rising star Melvin Crispell III, the ballad has garnered over 5 million domestic streams.
Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Nelson has been a mainstay in the gospel music scene since 2005. Known for his stirring vocals and life-changing lyrics, he has delivered fan favorites like “Shifting the Atmosphere,” “Nothing Without You,” “I Am,” and “Forever,” collectively amassing over 100 million digital streams. His 2021 studio album, Close, included the No. 1 hit “Residue” as well as collaborations with R&B icon Chrisette Michele.
As of last week, “Yahweh” reigned atop both Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart and Mediabase’s Gospel Airplay chart. It serves as the cornerstone of Nelson’s seventh studio album, You Belong (Jaelyn Song Music/Tyscot/FairTrade). Recorded live in the summer of 2023 at World Overcomers Christian Church in Durham, NC, the album showcases additional powerhouse performances by Shawn Bigby, Zacardi Cortez, and Madison Ryann Ward.
Beyond his music, Nelson serves as the Pastor of The Tab (formerly The Tabernacle at Greater Bethlehem Temple) in Windsor Mill, Maryland. His mission is clear–to inspire people from all walks of life through his ministry to live a life pleasing to the Lord. For more info, visit www.jnelsononline.com.
